Fun to bend an ear toward your iPhone earbugs, Doc.
Perhaps, not so "definitive" this week, but to answer a question, yeah, you can say that (this is, after all, your gig).....

    ...thanks for sharing.....!!

I remember reading that Zep's "No Quarter" was pitched down a half step in the studio version to make it sound darker (which explains why the studio version is C# minor and the live version is D minor). So this one must basically be a rough mix before they dropped the tape speed.

Now that I'm further into the song, it sounds like they're messing with the tape speed as they run off the mix... ouch!

    So Doc,

is that you naming Peter Green's song around 29 min........???

    ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.

I missed your set and walked back in the room was you were naming the tune.

    Cool, doc.

I know that "Oh Well" by Fleetwood Mac was the obvious inspiration for "Black Dog" by Led Zeppelin, but...is it me, or did "Mountain Song" by Jane's Addiction rip from "Oh Well" as well?

"Oh Well" by Pete Green's Fleetwood Mac was in the 1970 Doctor Who story "Spearhead From Space"! Cheers Doc!!

The test made across the Atlantic safe and well Doc. Nice mix of music, a lot of which I have not heard before.

Nice set, and no problem with non Floyd this time. I love all that stuff. Maybe you could do every third or fourth show as a mixed set, including some Floyd, but other stuff that fits in as well? Loved that version of No Quarter. Thanks Doc.

Excellent selection, Doc! Thank you for sharing those with us.
I'm a young-at-heart 54 years old from Leicester in the heart of the UK and I enjoy listening to the laid-back style of your podcasts.
My musical preferences? As a child, I was heavily influenced by my mother and her love of classical music. My father introduced me to the magic of Big Bands (Glenn Miller etc.) and artists like Bing Crosby.I also had an aunt who was a semi-pro opera mezzo-soprano, so add Opera to the mix.
Reaching my teens, I discovered bands like Black Sabbath, Deep Purple, Genesis, Floyd & Yes but still very much into my classical and big band roots.
To this day, I still listen to all of these types of music. There really is no 'best' type of music - it can mean all things to all people. The group of people I work with (most of them young enough to be my children!) are frequently fascinated when I introduce them to the types of music which, let's face it, are the seeds from which all of the music of today is grown.

yes, I confirm, test came across nicely the atlantic ;)

thanks a lot, doc! great to get some insight into your non-floyd preferences, it (again) reminds me I should stick my nose a little deeper into zep, it really is about time...

    cheerio, b.

    Welcome back Doc,
In a rainy Birmingham UK I am enjoying the cast.
Thanks as ever.(it is fun and different - I hope that it doesn't replace the Floyd but enjoyed immensly)

So, what other bands can you podcast? Got any Genesis? Other prog?

Play the Squirrles "Not So Bright Side Of The Moon" album! Let me know if you're interested...

    Hey Doc,

Pleasantly suprised at this podcast. I know its too much to ask for but I would love for you to do a seperate podcast of music apart from Floyd. Floyd podcast are the only ones I listen to and you have a great pulse on that late midnight radio sound.

I discovered the Black Keys awhile back and was blown away by them as well.

    Keep up the great work!
